Reviews ~

Another excellent release this year is Paul Avgerinos’ Law of Attraction. He has based the Law of Attraction theme in regards to authors Esther and Jerry Hicks and their bestselling self-help books, but after listening to his thirteenth album I discovered that Law of Attraction has such a pleasingly rich sensation of expressive delights, I just had to respond myself by concentrating more precisely on the fine melodic wonderment and charismatic appeal of this sensational new release, which if it was a library book, Law of Attraction would certainly be shelved in the romantic therapy section. It is pretty easy to fall in love with Paul Avgerinos music whether you have been officially introduced or not. But now you are, so sample the album here iTunes

New Age Music World ~ Top Ten of 2010

Excellent

Some love relationships begin with an introduction or the sparks may have ignited after that first gaze into someones eyes. Regardless of how it began, if a relationship progresses into something special it may lead to the divine word we call love, and while there are no definitive set of rules governing love the first attraction determines a lot about what happens next.
Grammy Nominated Paul Avgerinos from Redding Connecticut happens to have a new release called Law of Attraction that his prodigious fan base is certain to fully embrace with open arms, and do so without hesitation. I would imagine this great ambient album will also succeed at winning over many new fans for Paul Avgerinos, new fans who will go directly to the heart of his widely popular Round Sky Music website to hear for themselves, so for some of you, let me be the first to introduce you to this award winnng musician. Paul Avgerinos has based the Law of Attraction theme in regards to authors Esther and Jerry Hicks and their bestselling self-help books, but after listening to his thirteenth album I discovered Paul Avgerinos Law of Attraction has such a pleasingly rich sensation of expressive delights, I just had to respond myself by concentrating more precisely on the fine melodic wonderment and charismatic appeal of this sensational new release, which if it was a library book, Law of Attraction would certainly be shelved in the romantic therapy section.
Law of Attraction is after all quite compatible or along the same wavelength with his prior Love album, which is another positively feel good release with a passionate and dreamy intonation paired to the divine word we call love. The Love album did after all achieve a desirable level in 2009 by 2 nominations at ZMR which included Best Relaxation / Meditation Album.
Law of Attraction is an exciting fusion of New Age Ambient and World Music styles from the Middle East and India, and of the many earlier releases that garnered success, this album has the instrumental music essentials to his earlier award winning Garden of Delight. Paul Avgerinos further album awards do include Garden Of Delight which won Best World Album in 2007 and notable Gnosis had 5 Best of nominations total, while winning the Best Relaxation / Meditation Album award category in 2006. Muse of the Round Sky which made the airwaves on over 2000 radio stations worldwide was the great ambient album that first introduced Paul Avgerinos as a top artist and Grammy Nominated musician.
Paul Avgerinos has composed the 10 songs, performing on bass violin, Fretless bass, 12 string & nylon guitars keyboards, vocals, percussion and sound design. Kevin Braheny Fortune playing Electronic & Classical flutes, and Steve Gorn on Bansuri flute join Paul, as do the 7 essential talented musicians I have credited below.
This group blends vibrant instrumental fusion into an intricate musical project fascinating for the senses to behold like heard in Gentle My Love & Ask and It Is Given which are deep, exotic, and mesmerizing. You will find every song holds a diverse kaleidoscope of elevated ambience, but these two songs in particular are quite unique from anything I had ever heard before since multiple guitars and ethnic vocals infuse a sensual calm and steadiness to where they seem spellbinding or even hypnotic at times.
The Vortex is another picturesque song that intermingle keyboards, guitars and lyric less vocals into wonderful patterns that are like a magnet by attracting you into a beautiful sound adventure made for the senses. Follow Your Passion & Art of Allowing are two songs showing ingenious geometrical patterns of his Ambient music, and like Law of Attraction ( Title Song ) they have gentle curved surfaces free of any abrupt edges or distant note to note sound plateaus leading to nowhere. If one was to compare the textural sensations of touch to this release, it would be smooth as silk and you will see what I mean when you sample this perceptive new release.

It is pretty easy to fall in love with Paul Avgerinos music whether you have been officially introduced or not, and you may be interested to know that in addition to his eloquent skills as a composing New Age musician he has worked on over 100 television and film projects. Paul was also the primary bass player for The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and toured with many Popular, Contemporary, and Jazz groups over the years, having been involved with numerous Platinum album productions while collaborating with popular music acts Aerosmith, Jewel, Run DMC, Willie Nelson and Deana Carter.

Credits and your introduction to the additional musicians are Trina Basu on Violin, Brahim Fribgane on Oud, Rafiq Khan on Indian Sarangi, Rohin Khemani on Tabla & other percussions. Steve Waite on 12 string & electric guitars, Christine Yandell on vocals and Malika Zarra on French & Arabic vocals.

The Daily OM ~

An acclaimed “sound-layering” music composer, Paul Avgerinos is a true musical journeyman. Having worked with a diverse array of artists that includes Aerosmith, Buddy Rich, and Charles Aznavour, Avgerinos has proved himself adept at everything from slide guitar and gypsy violin to wordless vocals and synthesizers to create a perfect mood. The Law of Attraction works in your favor, with a sound that works like a friend helping you out of rain-soaked winter clothes and into a nice hot bath. Though an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, there’s no doubt Paul Avgerinos is besotted by the guitar, and his mastery of the electric slide technique makes sure every track on The Law of Attraction is nourished and glowing in the warm haze of slowly bending guitar notes. Each track has its own nook in the cavern, but slide guitars and wordless male vocals take center stage, like on the drifting sunny-day Tropicalia splendor of “Follow Your Passion.” Growling fretless bass and a Middle Eastern mood come snaking forward for “Gently, My Love.” A worldly array of styles are all harnessed to a feeling of a Sunday afternoon with tea and a good book in the sunny alcove, where meditation is only a closed eye and crossed leg away. The title track uses shimmering slide guitar, tingling chimes, and ethereal synthesizer echo to help time slow and stand still. The sun comes shimmering across the back of your eyelids, and the spine tingles around your ears even on the cloudiest of mornings. When exotic Arabian violins come in over caravan percussion and fretless bass, as in “Choose a Better Feeling,” it makes one realize that music is the key to a love of life, and Avgerinos has the key to music. He makes it lie down and relax in the meadow of the mind’s eye, and all the good things in life are suddenly made abundant as if they’d never left. You deserve this massage too—you can feel your once-tired muscles, eyes, ears, and heart come back to a soothing place. The Law of Attraction is working, and your dreams are drawn around you like a magnet pulling paper clips. The Daily OM

Say what you will about the music of Paul Avgerinos, he is a prolific chap, producing a new album every year. Law of Attraction is his new release, and it is a resonant affair, very lush and romantic in feel, mixing eastern instrumentation and rhythms. And then there are his trademark multi-tracked voices which provide a near choral accompaniment to the music. This is very ‘new age’ of course, and it has a foot in the world music camp as well, which broadens out the appeal. The album contains ten tracks: The Vortex, Ask and it is Given, Follow Your Passion, Gently My Love, Seek Relief, Art of Allowing, Law of Attraction, Endless Expansion, Choose a Better Feeling, and Joy of Alignment. To those readers unfamiliar with Mr Avgerinos music expect to hear music that is un-rushed, mellow in the extreme, full of lush detail, extremely romantic and with a mission to soothe and heal the troubled soul. I’m a bit of a sceptic about the latter, but I can’t fault the music and the fact that it does bring a calmness to the listener. Mr Avgerinos is a multi-instrumentalist and plays a lot of what you hear, but there are a number of specialist musicians on this album and they add to the exotic nature of the music. Bottom line is that Law of Attraction is a very fine, listenable album that won’t raise the blood pressure and may indeed lower it when you play the CD. If you need some peace in your life then I recommend this album to aid you in that quest.
John Peters ~ The Borderland

After the publication of “Love” Paul Avgerinos offers a beautiful work entitled “Law of Attraction” In this work, Paul returns to have the presence of Kevin Braheny Fortune on flute, but also with other great partners such as Trina Basu, Brahim Fribgane, Steve Gorn, Rafiq Khan, Rohin Khemani, Steve Waite, Christine Yandell and Malika Zarra . “Law Of Attraction” continues the path of the beauty of his “Love”, a work that revolves around the wonderful feeling of love and human relationships, where the composer once again present some very beautiful tracks accompanied by a warm instrumentation and sometimes a beautiful voice, instrumentation that moves us to different parts of the world, from Arabia to Asia. Ten themes are supplied with this work, from “The Vortex” to “Joy of Alignment”, ten compositions that are an ode to beauty, ten subjects ranging along the beauty of the feelings and sensations. Listening to this album one would seize true feelings of love towards the people around you, as part of your life, you do not ever want to separate them. Paul Avgerinos has become one of the most interesting composers of the New Age music in recent years ~ He continues to show this work after work and this “Law Of Attraction” is not an exception, we found it a small wonder to enjoy the feelings, to appreciate our surroundings and to think and believe that life can be very beautiful. Roberto Fernandez ~ Ultimo Frontiera

With a pronounced Indian influence, owing to the presence of bansuri flute, oud, tabla, and other world-beat instrumentation, Law of Attraction from multi-instrumentalist Paul Avgerinos (bass violin, fretless bass, guitars, keyboards, percussion, and vocals) is cast in the same mold as his last CD, Love. Once again, the musical focus is on romance, here conveyed by sensuous melodies married to ethnic rhythms. Joined by frequent collaborator Kevin Fortune Braheny on flute and electronic wind instrument, as well as such notables as bansuri flutist Steve Gorn, Avgerinos weaves an intoxicating spell of relaxing music and insistent yet low-key exotic rhythms.
